Who we are...

The Friends of Webster is a group of people who work together to support the program at June Norcross Webster Scout Reservation.  Many of its members attended JNW as youth or as adults, and some even served on staff.

What we do...
Members of FOW have carried out several projects to enhance or improve the program at JNW over the years.  The new Ranhoff Nature/Ecology Center was built with funds raised by FOW.  The Friends recently renovated the Trading Post and are currently working on the Health Lodge.   In June, the Friends sponsor a "Beaver Day" at JNW and hold their annual meeting after a free Cornish Game Hen dinner that they provide for the workers.  Each summer, the Friends throw a "hump-day" party for the staff in the middle of the summer.

The two Savage competition target rifles in use at the range are available thanks to a FOW purchase.  The new coat hooks in all the latrines and shower stalls were also a FOW donation.  A current fund-raiser and camp improvement project is the installation of benches around camp that can be personalized with the name of a Scout or Scouter or a Troop Number.  These benches are available at  $150 each.  Photos of all staffs in the camp office and the Price Milam camp patches in the dining hall are made available through FOW funds.  Previous projects include replacing the windows in the ranger's cabin, winterizing the campmaster cabin and building an all-new waterfront tower.

We fund these projects with dues from our members and from fund-raisers.

Dues are $40 per Scouting Family, $20 per Scouter, and $10 for a Scout membership (under 21).

An on-going fund-raiser is the sale of prints of camp done by Putnam artist Tom Menard.  Hoss will have the small ($35) and large ($50) prints for sale at the Mohegan roundtable.  All the dues, donations and fund-raising income goes first to the treasurer.  Please see him at the Mohegan Roundtable or mail him directly.  Prints can be picked up at any roundtable.
